Voice Dialogue

What is Voice Dialogue?

Voice Dialogue is an approach which was developed in the 70’s of the 20th century by the American psychologists Hal and Sidra Stone. The fundamental idea of Voice Dialogue is that  a human being is not just one person, but exists of many persons, also called ‘selves’. A human being is like a diamond with sparkling facets. Each facet, part or self sees the world with different eyes, has its own voice and asks for attention. The question is: to whom should you listen to?

A human being has a great variety of selves. A lot of common selves are the Perfectionist, the Pleaser, the Pusher, the Hedonist, the Inner Critic, the Rational Thinker, the Clown, the Inner Child, and so on.

Understanding of qualities and non-functional behavior

Voice Dialogue is about exploring and understanding your selves without judging. You’ll understand who has the last word within you and why. You’ll understand better why you leave certain things or why you do them, even if this is not what you want to do. You’ll discover qualities you didn’t expect to possess and you’ll learn to use dormant talents better. Voice Dialogue provides you with insights in rusted patterns and it helps you to break through these patterns. Deep-rooted habits and non-functional behavior will dissolve. By means of Voice Dialogue all different sides of your personality are illuminated and balanced out. With this dynamic process, your life will no longer be directed by your selves and you’ll make more conscious and sound decisions.
